Steve here; welcome.
I work as a database analyst/IS developer in Philadelphia right now, and I'm also learning data science and machine learning on the side through whatever resources I can find (online textbooks, MOOCs, Kaggle, Twitter users, etc.). To strengthen my educational background, I am also working toward applying for a Master's degree in either Applied Statistics, Analytics, or Computer Science.
I've created this page to serve as a repository for the personal work I've done and the notes I've made as I've taught myself how to do things like data analysis, machine learning, deep learning, hockey analytics, data visualization, and a host of other things. In order to keep this blog updated frequently (note as of 4/11/18: I am not good at this), I attempt to learn something new every day.
Along with starting to really get into hockey, I'm also starting to dabble in extreme trail running (as best as I can given that I live on the outskirts of center-city Philadelphia and frequently get hurt) (despite the Flyers making it very difficuly). Additionally, I enjoy reading, baking and cooking when I can. I enjoy long distance running, analytics, and hockey in general. None of those people reciprocate their likes for me.
If you're curious, you can find me on LinkedIn, GitHub, and Twitter.
